And They're Off!

I used to know an Anastasia Noonchester who would now be the same age as the lady in the picture on the left. She was just a baby then, but-what the hell, Anastasia, if you Google your name and you come across this post, and if that is indeed you (or even if it is not) send me an e-mail.

And, again, for the lady in the picture, if you are the same person-or even if you are not-good luck on Derby Day. According to hte report in the Lexington Herald Leader, a pretty young stripper/dancer with the right moves might pull in as much as two or three thousand dollars on a single night, and, again acording to the report, dancers and strippers look forward to Derby Day the same way most of us look forward to tax refund day.

So have at it girls, I wish I could be there. Second only to the winnig horses and their owners, trainrs, and jockeys, this is your day and night to shine. What with this and all the other events going on in Louisville during Derby weekend, how can you go wrong? This in addition to all the other races, including the vaunted Oaks, leading up to the most exciting two minutes in sports, the Kentucky Derby itself. I can just see it. Hear it. Fell it. Taste it.

And they’re off. There’s Brother Derek out the starting gate. Side by side with Ron and Paul. Steppenwolfer is edging up by a nose but look out here comes AP Warrior-in front now by a length. Rounding the curve is Lawyer Ron, but up the backstretch comes Sinister Minister. Here comes the final stretch and it’- it’s

POINT DETERMINED!!!!

NOt Brother Derek?

Hm. Maybe he partied too much the night before with these strippers.

Which reminds me. Jenna Jameson was on Tyra yesterday (okay, I was stressed and needed mindless TV). She was talking about her $200,000 car and how she "works hard for [her] money" and therefore should "live life to the fullest." Mind you, she had just finished saying that she loves sex and her sexuality. It made no sense to me that she could a) love sex and love doing it professionally, yet say that she b) works hard for her money. Hm. Anyway, I digress. She was speaking all about working hard for the money and living life to the fullest, and demanding respect from men, and I kept thinking YOU HAVE SEX ON CAMERA FOR MONEY. THIS DOES NOT DEMAND RESPECT FROM MEN FOR YOU OR ALL OF WOMANKIND. So since you said that rants were welcome here, there's mine. She's working hard, alright - working hard to bring disrespect and objectification to all of womankind.

I have mixed feelings about it. It certanly doesn't say much for her character, but on the other hand she is merely supplying a commodity that is in demand. If anything it speaks volumes about men, as they are the ones obviously who are the demanders of this particular comodity. But it certainly doesn't reflect on womankind, at least not in my view.

I very much appreciate your reply, but I must disagree. I very much support acceptance of and celebration of one's sexuality - it is a beautiful, natural thing. However, one's sexuality does not embody one's entire state of being, in my opinion. It is only one small fraction of what makes a woman a woman - she have several other beneficial qualities and wonderful thigns to contribute. However, I have yet to view a porno video (and I don't make these accusations in an unfounded way) that aims to celebrate the sexuality of women. The ones that I have viewed look more like they are attempting to exploit the sexuality of women for the purpose of bringing delight to men. And that appears to be the sole purpose of the women's presence in the videos. If I could see a porn video where the woman has sex, is treated respectably, and then she goes off to work on solving some problem or social ill or make the world a better place by using her other talents, then I could get behind that porn.

But as you pointed out, it is a commodity. As long as men demand it, and as long as thoughtless women who are just interested in making a buck instead of forward women's causes continue to make it, things will stay just the way they are with respect to porn.

This makes me want to launch a porno production company that portrays women differently. Hm.. More post graduation plans.
