"Kristen" Speaks-"What Destroys Me, Strengthens Me."
OsisSpeaks has the scoop on the real identity of Kristen, the call girl who brought down Elliot Spitzer. Her real name is Ashley Alexandra Dupre. The picture above is of her, taken from her MySpace Profile.
It's good to remember, when something like this happens, there is actually another human being involved, besides Spitzer and his family, friends, and colleagues. Lest we forget, they usually tend to be nameless personages that often never see the light of day. In fact, they are people with dreams and desires. I will let her profile description speak for itself-and for her.
Beginning of MySpace Profile Description:
About Ashley Alexandra Dupré
I am all about my music, and my music is all about me… It flows from what I’ve been through, what I’ve seen and how I feel. I live in New York and am on top of the world. Been here since 2004 and I love this city, I love my life here. But, my path has not been easy. When I was 17, I left home. It was my decision and I’ve never looked back. Left my hometown. Left a broken family. Left abuse. Left an older brother who had already split. Left and learned what it was like to have everything, and lose it, again and again. Learned what it was like to wake up one day and have the people you care about most gone. I have been alone. I have abused drugs. I have been broke and homeless. But, I survived, on my own. I am here, in NY because of my music. It started when I moved in with a musician during my odyssey to New York. One day, I was in the shower singing “respect.” He and his lead guitarist burst in, had me repeat it and it started. We wrote, rehearsed and toured. After recording a bit with them, I decided to move to Manhattan to pursue my music career. I spent the first two years getting to know the music scene, networking in clubs and connecting with the industry. Now, it’s all about my music. It’s all about expressing me. I can sit here now, and knowingly tell you that life’s hard sometimes. But, I made it. I’m still here and I love who I am. If I never went through the hard times, I would not be able to appreciate the good ones. Cliché, yes, but I know it’s true. I have experienced just how hard it can be. I can honestly tell you to never dwell on the past, but build from it and keep moving forward. Don’t let anyone hold you back or tell you that you can’t…because you can. I didn’t and here I am, just listen to it…. What we Want is my latest track. It’s really about trust, something my past has made very difficult for me to feel. This one was inspired by a guy, who taught me not to confuse my dreams with the sounds of the city…I hope you like it.
End of MySpace Profile Description
So then, she is a would-be musician. She also made a blog entry, a part of which I also copied here. It, too, is very interesting, and somewhat prophetic, as follows:
Surround yourself around people that are making moves, and doing what "they want and love" with their lives, positive energy...thats what life is all about...living. Because if you dont, misery loves company, they will only try to bring you down with them...but the question is, are you strong enough, to not let that happen?
Its hard to see if you let it get to that point...
...and then from all those answers you have to decide if that person is worthy of being a part of "your" life....because it is your life, your show...you decide who you want the characters to be...not the other way around. Every person is different, every person has their voice...can you recognize your voice, listen to it, and stick up for it??

I think it is a consumer ripoff issue. Who would pay $5,000 for an aspiring musician?
The answer to that question would take another blog post to explain concisely, but you can distill it down to power exercised over the powerless, along with the promise of anonymity.
In other words, the advertisement of these women as members of high society was feel good bullshit, designed to convey an acceptable illusion. Spitzer and all the other clients would of course have been well aware of this. It was all part of the fantasy.
In reality, they were nowhere near their level of societal status, which added to the fantasy role-playing element. They could pretend they were one thing, but knew they were something else again. Most such sexual activities are as much about power as anything.
I can't believe that politicians screwing around is still news.
Yeah, but this was Mr. Dudley-Do-Gooder, who won election to Governor of New York by a landslide, based on being a crime-fighting crusader, who busted two prostitute rings because he was ohhhhh, so offeeeended, and who was being touted as a Presidential hopeful. That's what makes this news.
Oh... is that what's up with the whole "Mr. Clean" thing?
Yep. He was supposed to be Mr. Perfect. It didn't surprise me though. This guy would prosecute a nun for coughing without covering her mouth if he thought it would get him positive news coverage. Guys like that are always shady.
I still don't get it why him having sex with prostitutes should be a news and should make him resign. Or ok, if it's illegal to have sex with prostitute, which always amazes me that it is, fine, make him resign, but why all the fuss in the media?
Like that republican guy that was caught in men's room making advances to an officer. From my point of view, it shows more the absurdity of a society that's hiding behind non-existing (and non-needed) high moral, than actually something about those politicians. Because let's face it, all the politicians are having all the sex they can get. And I believe too, that it's more about power than about libido, but it doesn't matter. They are having sex. Boys, girls, together, they do have sex. And then surprise, surprise, they are all over the news. Well, for me this is not a surprise.
For me the only sexual activities that should really be up to the society are those that are damaging for some of the partners. Like rapes, pedophilia and so. If it's on mutual consent with adult partners, I don't care , politicians or no. Or, no, I do care, but from other point of view :)
As for the Myspace profile...well, is it surprising the girl has a dream or a life apart from being a prostitute?
Denitsa-
No, it's not a surprise to me, but it is to a lot of people, or seems to be. To most people, girls like this are just scumbags that are willing to self their bodies for drug money or whatever, and outside of that have no value to themselves or to society. The whole point of my publishing the MySpace link was to give people the opportunity to see more of the real person.
Now, on to Spitzer. People seem to be having a problem wrapping their heads around how good it is this guy was caught. It's not just the idea he was a politician having sex with prostitutes. It's not even so much that he is a hypocrite. None of that would be news to me either, though it would be interesting.
What makes this such a big deal is that this is a guy who went out of his way to prosecute people who did the same thing, and other things as well, a great many times of which evidence of lawbreaking was vague at best.
Spitzer and others like him are precisely the reason prostitution and other questionable so-called crimes (such as smoking marijuana, for example) are illegal and prosecuted, many times unfairly and even maliciously, in my opinion.
For a guy like this to get caught is reason for celebration. Yeah, it probably shouldn't really be a crime, and at least the Mann Act should probably be repealed. But since it is a crime, thanks primarily to people like Spitzer, then when Spitzer and others like him get caught, I have to stand and cheer-loudly and gleefully.
Ok, put this way, I completly agree with you :)
I'd cheer and be happy. If it wasn't that annoying.
But for me, it's amazing that people see this happening and they don't realise something in those laws is wrong.
Like trying to make porn illegal. Well, I like watching porn sometimes. I don't quite get the prostitutes' part, probably because i'm female, but anyway, for me it's better to make it legal and control it, than keep it illegal and abuse it. Cuz I'm pretty sure this is the reason why some politicians get caught and some don't.
